2003 AUSTRALIAN PACKAGING AWARDS
ENTAPACK WINS THREE AWARDS FOR DUR-O-GLAND SYSTEM
Entapack has reinforced its position as the leading innovator and manufacturer of flexible IBC liners having been awarded The Packaging Council of Australia "Best of Show Award" for 2003 for the Dur-O-gland fill system.
In addition to the "Best of Show Award" the Dur-O-gland also won the Asia Pacific Packaging Magazine "Industrial Packaging Award" which recognises the most outstanding technical achievement in industrial packaging and The NCI Packaging Award for "Plastic Packaging" which recognises excellence in injection moulded plastic packaging.
The judge's comments were:
This innovation is the most eloquent and succinct example of good packaging design. It demonstrates exceptional delivery of criteria of "excellence of injected moulded plastic packaging" achieving the NCI Packaging Award for Plastic Packaging and also exemplifies " outstanding technical achievement in industrial packaging" as winner of the Asia Pacific Packaging Magazine Industrial packaging award.
It therefore has impressed judges to such a degree as to be acknowledged in this, the inaugural Australian Packaging Awards Best of Show Award.
The first of its type, this ingenious seal is Co-injected at the same time as the fitting is moulded, maximising efficiencies of time, labour, materials, cost, and durability as well as reducing the risk of contamination and damage. Two distinctly different materials are used in the process. A hard polyethylene fitting and a soft thermoplastic rubber seal are injected in the one machine cycle. The simplicity of the concept and the benefits to the manufacturer and use alike are invaluable.
The Dur-O-gland is now used as the fill gland on all Entapack IBC Liquitainers. The principal advantages are:
- The Dur-O-gland provides a seal at time of fill
- Compared to a loose seal there is no possibility of the seal breaking and entering the product
- The Dur-O-gland is a superior hygienic product, as a void does not exist between the seal and screw cap to trap product
